On December 7, more than 100 volunteers from Delta and the City of Bell collaborated with a national partner to construct Delta's 42nd playground. This new play area is located in Treder Park and marks the seventh playground built by Delta in the Los Angeles area since their partnership with KABOOM! began in 2013. Volunteers from various Delta locations, including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Detroit, and New York, contributed to this project.

The newly constructed playground spans 2,214 square feet and provides a safe space for over 1,000 children near Treder Park to engage in physical activities. Local residents also participated in building the playground and expressed enthusiasm about having a modern facility nearby. A Design Day held in September allowed children to share their ideas for an ideal playground.

“Delta’s partnership with KABOOM! reflects our broader commitment to fostering belonging and well-being in the communities we serve,” said Tad Hutcheson, Managing Director of Community Engagement at Delta. “Every child deserves the opportunity to play, and we’re honored to show children we care by bringing their visions to life and creating spaces just for them.”

Among those present at the event were several Delta leaders: Meg Taylor (V.P., Deputy General Counsel), Margaret Campbell (Assistant General Counsel), Dana Debel (Managing Director of Government Affairs), Tad Hutcheson (Managing Director - Community Engagement), as well as LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn. The construction was completed within five hours and featured a multi-dimensional play structure with slides, climbing walls, and a net bridge. Volunteers also undertook additional projects such as painting fences, an exterior wall on the firehouse, mulching flower beds, installing a Little Free Library, and fun directional posts.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Delta presented the City of Bell with a $10,000 check for ongoing maintenance of the playground. "We are deeply grateful to KABOOM! and Delta Air Lines for their incredible generosity," said Bell Mayor Ali Saleh. "This partnership has transformed Treder Park into a vibrant space where our children can play."

Bell City Manager Michael L. Antwine II added: "We are profoundly thankful to KABOOM! for their unwavering dedication...and to Delta Air Lines for their remarkable generosity." He emphasized that this collaboration exemplifies community-building efforts.

Delta continues its support of KABOOM!'s mission to eliminate play space inequality by constructing kid-designed areas across communities nationwide since beginning their partnership in 2013.
