TPG has highlighted the best hotels of 2024, but attention is already turning to 2025 with new hotel openings in Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Among these is Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Costa Rica, which is now accepting reservations.

Guests can book stays at Nekajui starting March 1, 2025. It should be noted that new hotels often face delays due to construction and permit issues.

Located on Costa Rica's Papagayo Peninsula, Nekajui aims to become one of the country's premier resorts and a standout within the Marriott portfolio. The name "Nekajui," meaning "lush garden" in the Chorotega dialect, reflects its setting within 1,400 acres of tropical forest.

The resort offers diverse accommodations with 107 rooms and suites and three treetop tent options. There are also ultraluxury choices like a four-bedroom Grand Villa, 36 private residences, and a ten-bedroom home. Many accommodations feature terraces or balconies with soaking tubs, outdoor showers, plunge pools, and views of the jungle or ocean.

Ritz-Carlton describes an "epicurean journey as transformative as the destination" at Nekajui. Dining options include Puna by Peruvian chef Diego Munoz offering Peruvian dishes and a Japanese-Peruvian omakase experience. Other venues include a cafe with Costa Rican coffees and snacks, an international breakfast restaurant, a poolside bar and grill, and a Mediterranean beach club.

The Nimbu Spa & Wellness center spans 27,000 square feet featuring Latin America's largest hydrotherapy pool along with treatment cabanas among trees focusing on well-being.

Costa Rica provides ample adventure opportunities beyond relaxation at Nekajui. Guests can explore the surrounding Palmares Preserve jungle covering three ecosystems within one square mile through activities like hiking, zip-lining canoeing surfing scuba diving snorkeling sailing golfing on an Arnold Palmer-designed course.

Rates for staying at Nekajui start from $1,580 per night in cash or Marriott Bonvoy members may use points beginning at 128 thousand points per night though many dates show higher prices reflecting Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties' status as top-tier offerings from Marriott's collection.
