San Antonio International Airport (SAT) is undertaking a significant expansion project, valued at $2.5 billion, aimed at accommodating future growth and enhancing passenger experience. The airport, located eight miles north of downtown San Antonio, serves 45 destinations across the United States, Mexico, and Europe with 14 airlines operating from its terminals.
In July, SAT recorded its busiest month ever with over 1.03 million passengers. This surpasses the previous record set in July 2023 of one million passengers. Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports at the City of San Antonio Aviation Department, stated: "We’re continuing to see record-breaking passenger levels at SAT. We are growing every day with new destinations and flights being added yearly."
The expansion includes a new terminal as part of the Terminal Development Plan (TDP), which aims to modernize facilities to meet growing demands and improve infrastructure. Ron Nirenberg, Mayor of San Antonio, remarked: "This new terminal will help the airport accomplish even more continued growth."
