Turkish Airlines has been recognized by Guinness World Records for flying to the most countries of any airline. This achievement follows the launch of new routes, including a recent addition to Santiago, Chile. The airline has maintained its position as the world's most internationally connected carrier for over ten years, operating through its hub at Istanbul Airport.

The official recognition was awarded at Santiago Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in the presence of Turkish Airlines executives and Guinness World Records officials. The record was set with flights to 120 countries over the past year, according to evaluation criteria that consider active routes. Including temporarily suspended routes and new flights to Chile, Turkish Airlines now serves 131 countries across six continents.

CEO Bilal Ekşi expressed his satisfaction with this accomplishment: "We are delighted to be in Santiago, Chile, our newest route launched today, and to receive the Guinness World Records title for the Most Countries Flown to by an Airline."

On December 18, 2024, Turkish Airlines inaugurated its service to Santiago as its 26th destination in the Americas. The flights operate four times a week from Istanbul via São Paulo using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. This new route enhances connectivity between Turkey and South America while boosting tourism and trade between Turkey and Chile.

In addition to expanding its network in South America, Turkish Airlines recently commenced flights from Istanbul to Sydney via Kuala Lumpur on November 29. This marks their longest-ever flight path and adds Sydney as their second Australian destination after Melbourne earlier this year.

Bilal Ekşi commented on this milestone: "This momentous occasion marks Turkish Airlines' longest flight path in history as we happily add our second Australian city to our flight network."

The airline plans future non-stop services once longer-range aircraft become available. With these developments, Turkish Airlines now operates over 350 destinations worldwide with a fleet exceeding 400 aircraft.
