Swiss Air Lines flight makes emergency landing due to smoke

Swiss International Air Lines flight LX1885, traveling from Bucharest to Zürich, made an emergency landing at Graz Airport in Austria due to engine issues and smoke in the cabin. The Airbus A220-300 was diverted after smoke penetrated both the cockpit and cabin. SWISS confirmed that "the cockpit crew decided to make an emergency landing in Graz and evacuate the aircraft following engine issues and the detection of smoke."

The incident occurred on a regularly scheduled evening flight that departed Bucharest nearly an hour late. After landing at Graz, passengers evacuated using emergency slides. SWISS stated, "HB-JCD has been removed from the runway," allowing the airport to reopen.

There were 79 people onboard, including 74 passengers and five crew members. Medical attention was required for twelve passengers, while one cabin crew member was airlifted to a hospital in Graz. "Two cabin crew members are currently still in hospital," SWISS reported.
