Xiamen Airlines shares green initiatives at COP16 conference

The sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on December 2, 2024. Xiamen Airlines attended as a representative of Chinese enterprises and delivered a speech at the "Belt and Road" Forum. They were the only Chinese airline to join the "China Action of Planting One Trillion Trees Initiative," sharing their sustainable development practices.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of China's signing of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification. The China Green Foundation co-hosted with the World Economic Forum an international forum under the "One Trillion Trees" Initiative, attracting global participants. Xiamen Airlines joined other enterprises like Ant Group and Yili Group in discussing how to balance social responsibility with ecological restoration.

Xiamen Airlines has been committed to green development through various measures supporting global climate action goals. In 2024, they partnered with CGF on projects such as planting forests in Inner Mongolia and Liaoning, contributing significantly to carbon sequestration.

Their participation was recognized by both the World Economic Forum and CGF for their efforts in ecological restoration and high-quality development. This event provided Xiamen Airlines an opportunity to showcase their commitment to sustainable practices.

During COP16, representatives from Xiamen Airlines met with Fernando Gomez from the World Economic Forum and a Vice President from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund to explore future cooperation opportunities.
