An Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer E190 aircraft crashed on December 25th while attempting an emergency landing in Aktau, Kazakhstan. The city is situated on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

The crash resulted in the death of 38 people on board, while 29 passengers survived the incident.
