Emirates received its first A350-900 aircraft last month, marking an important step in its fleet growth strategy. This delivery highlights the partnership between Emirates and Airbus, focusing on innovation, efficiency, and operational excellence. The airline has ordered 65 A350-900s to support Dubai’s Economic Agenda aimed at expanding its foreign trade map over the next decade.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Emirates, stated that the A350 signifies a new era for the airline with enhanced flexibility, efficiency, and customer experience. "This aircraft sets the stage for Emirates to spread its wings farther by offering added range, efficiency and flexibility to our network," he said.

The Airbus A350-900 features a three-class cabin configuration with 32 Business Class seats that offer direct aisle access inspired by Mercedes S-Class design. It also includes Premium Economy seating introduced successfully by Emirates since 2022.

The A350 will be used on several key routes starting with services to Edinburgh beginning January 3rd, 2025. Its smaller size compared to larger aircraft like the A380 makes it suitable for mid-sized airports that cannot accommodate bigger planes.

Earlier plans for an inaugural service from Dubai to Bahrain were postponed due to delayed delivery but are now set as part of expanded routes including destinations like Bologna and Colombo.
