American Airlines supports Snowball Express program for third consecutive year

American Airlines has continued its partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation for the Snowball Express program, flying over 2,500 participants to Walt Disney World Resort. This marks the third consecutive year that the airline has facilitated this event, which aims to support families of fallen military servicemembers and first responders during the holiday season.

The Snowball Express program offers a week-long retreat at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The initiative is designed to provide "hope, healing, and camaraderie" for grieving families. David Seymour, Chief Operating Officer of American Airlines, expressed his appreciation for the event: "Snowball Express continues to be a highlight of the holiday season for myself and so many on the #AATeam."

This year, American Airlines contributed 11 charter aircraft to transport these families. More than a thousand team members volunteered across 90 airports to ensure smooth operations. Ceremonies were held at departure airports nationwide as part of the experience.

The program primarily serves children of fallen heroes along with their surviving parents or guardians. It resumed in 2022 after being paused due to COVID-19 restrictions in 2020. The Snowball Express first began in 2006 and has been an annual tradition since then.

Captain Keith Firmin participated in this year's event as one of the crewmembers on a flight from Washington D.C., highlighting its significance given his background as a volunteer firefighter.

The foundation also extends participation to eligible local families within driving distance by reimbursing travel expenses.
