On December 23, the S&P Global released its 2024 Corporate Sustainability Assessment. According to the rating agency, LATAM Airlines Group has been ranked as the most sustainable airline in the Americas and fifth worldwide. This ranking reflects the group's commitment to sustainability.

LATAM Airlines Group achieved a score of 67 points across social, environmental, and economic dimensions, improving by three points from last year. The score places it above most global airlines, with only a few Asian carriers scoring higher this year.

Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines Group, commented on this achievement: "LATAM group has set out to work on sustainability from a wide and crosscutting perspective while continuing to connect and transport its passengers. We are pleased to see that the path it has laid out is being highly fruitful today; however, it is convinced that there is still much to be done. It will continue working consistently to move forward in the roadmap towards net-zero emissions, incorporating a circular economic model and generating value to the communities where the group operates."

The airline's return to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) comes after a five-year absence due mainly to reorganization under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. Now reinstated, LATAM is part of both the Chilean DJSI and MILA Pacific Alliance Index.

The LATAM Group focuses on three sustainability targets: climate change, circular economy, and shared value. Their goals include reaching zero net emissions by 2050, eliminating single-use plastics in operations, achieving zero landfill waste by 2027, and supporting their "Solidarity Plane" program.

Since 2020, LATAM has compensated over 1.9 million CO2 tons while preserving more than 300,000 hectares of Colombian savannas known for high CO2 capture capability. The airline reduced single-use plastics by 97%, equating to over 1,700 tons of CO2.

Since 2021 through its “Solidarity Plane” program with organizations like Teletón and Bomberos de Chile in South America, LATAM has provided free transport for over 6,600 passengers and transported more than 779 tonnes of cargo.
