Delta Air Lines remains the largest operator of the Boeing 757, with over 100 in service. The majority of these aircraft are the older -200 variant, inherited from Northwest Airlines. Recently, a flight on one of these planes, specifically N668DN, highlighted Delta's commitment to maintaining this fleet.

N668DN, a 33-year-old Boeing 757-200, operated six flights on September 9th, beginning its day in Fort Lauderdale and visiting several cities including Atlanta and Miami. "Several thousand people traveling through Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) have likely flown on the 757-200," states Delta Air Lines. This particular aircraft has not been retrofitted with winglets and is equipped with Delta Sync for passenger entertainment.

Before boarding DL1332 at Miami International Airport for its return to Atlanta, passengers could enjoy amenities at the Delta Sky Club. A first-class ticket offered early boarding and comfort onboard despite the aircraft's age. "The first impressions onboard exceeded my expectations as the aircraft was remarkably clean," noted a passenger.

During the flight lasting an hour and 25 minutes, N668DN reached a cruising altitude of 35,000 feet. Although no meal was served due to the short distance, beverages and snacks were available. The journey ended ahead of schedule at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Despite its age, N668DN is expected to continue flying until at least December 2027. However, some younger models have already been retired by Delta. According to Simple Flying reports earlier this month, two other Boeing 757-200s were retired even though their projected retirement year was also set for 2027.

Delta continues to focus on maintaining its fleet of Boeing 757s for as long as possible while updating interiors on select models.
