The Embraer Legacy 600, a private jet favored by the affluent, was first launched in 2000. It made its public debut at the Farnborough Airshow and had its maiden flight in 2001. By 2002, it entered the market for private jets. Since then, over 190 units have been manufactured.

The Legacy 600 played a crucial role in establishing Embraer's Executive Jet division and influenced future aircraft designs by the manufacturer.

The cabin of the Embraer Legacy 600 is designed to provide luxury akin to a modern five-star hotel. The interior features seating for up to 13 guests, with six recliner seats that convert into sleeping spaces. Amenities include a galley equipped with a microwave and coffee machine, a conference area, Wi-Fi connectivity, an entertainment system with flat-screen monitors and DVD players, and a stateroom with a double bed and ensuite bathroom. LED lighting enhances the ambiance inside the aircraft.

Chartering options for private jets like the Embraer Legacy 600 are available through services such as Katana and Aviapages. Katana offers members opportunities to buy, sell, or share seats on flights, while Aviapages provides tools for planning journeys including catering options and cost estimations.

"The hourly running cost for the Embraer Legacy 600 can range from $4000 to $6000 per hour," according to industry sources. Annual operational costs are approximately $3.6 million USD as reported by GuardianJet. Chartering fees range from $8000 USD to $12000 USD per hour, while purchasing this jet would cost around $26 million USD before additional customizations.

The performance of the Embraer Legacy 600 is powered by two Rolls-Royce AW3007A1E engines delivering 8000 pounds of thrust each. It requires about 5600 feet of runway for takeoff under favorable conditions and can climb at a rate of 3000 feet per minute to reach an altitude ceiling of 41,000 feet within thirteen minutes when taking off from sea level.

In terms of competition, other jets such as Bombardier Challenger 650 introduced in 2015 with CF34-3B engines reaching Mach 0.85; Gulfstream G280 which entered service in 2012 accommodating up to ten passengers; and Dassault Falcon 2000 capable of speeds up to Mach .78 also vie for attention in this market segment.
