Spain's Air Europa is set to enhance its U.S. presence by increasing the frequency of flights on its Madrid to New York JFK route. Starting in the summer of 2025, the airline will offer daily services between these destinations for the first time since 2019.

According to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, Air Europa plans to resume daily flights from Madrid Barajas International Airport (MAD) to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) during the high-travel summer season. The airline will gradually increase its flight schedule, with 18 flights planned for May 2025 and 21 flights in June 2025, reaching daily operations in July and August.

In contrast, during the summer of 2024, Air Europa operated a total of 21 flights in July and 23 in August. This marks a significant increase as the last occurrence of daily services was before the pandemic in 2019.

Air Europa typically uses Boeing 787 Dreamliners for long-haul routes. The carrier currently has a fleet of 26 Dreamliners but faced delivery issues which led to using wet-leased Airbus A330-900s (A330neo). Globalia-owned Air Europa utilized Iberojet's A330neo from September to October 2024 due to these challenges.

The carrier continues operating on this route with its Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which can seat up to either 296 or 333 passengers depending on configuration. Airlines with substantial Boeing Dreamliner fleets face scheduling challenges due to engine issues. British Airways recently canceled its London Heathrow-Abu Dhabi route over such problems with Rolls-Royce Trent engines.

American Airlines has also adjusted its long-haul network by reducing flight frequencies and delaying certain routes for spring next year.
