As the year comes to a close, aviation enthusiasts are turning their attention to new airline routes announced in 2024 that will launch in 2025. The Points Guy's (TPG) Aviation team has highlighted some of the most anticipated routes from various airlines.

United Airlines is noted for its bold international expansion, with new destinations such as Greenland, Mongolia, and Morocco. Ben Mutzabaugh, TPG's managing editor for aviation, highlighted United’s Tokyo to Ulaanbaatar route: "You'll see this route more than once on this list, and for good reason: Mongolia is about as far-flung and exotic a destination as you'll find for a U.S. airline."

American Airlines has been expanding into smaller airports with limited competition. Zach Griff from TPG remarked on American's strategy: "It's increasingly added smaller airports with little or no major airline service." A notable addition is Carlsbad, California, to Phoenix.

Allegiant Air continues its focus on niche markets with its Gulf Shores to Belleville route. Griff pointed out Allegiant's success at developing markets outside larger metro areas.

Other significant developments include Hawaiian Airlines' Seattle to Anchorage route using an Airbus A330 following its merger with Alaska Airlines. Delta Air Lines and United will begin flights to Sicily next summer.

Emirates introduced a fifth freedom route between Miami and Bogota. Sean Cudahy from TPG explained how it offers a more affordable experience of Emirates’ first-class service: "Thanks to this route, TPG's Eric Rosen was able to redeem 60,000 Emirates Skywards miles for a first-class seat."

Aer Lingus announced flights from Dublin to Nashville and Indianapolis using the Airbus A321XLR, which could unlock new intercontinental routes.

JetBlue plans seasonal service from Boston to Edinburgh next spring. David Slotnick expressed excitement about increased access to Scotland: "I'm always thrilled to see it easier to get there from the U.S."

Finally, Alaska Airlines aims to transform its Seattle hub into a global gateway with new long-haul flights following its merger with Hawaiian Airlines.

The upcoming year promises exciting developments in air travel as airlines explore new markets and expand their networks.
