Classified documents regarding the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet radar systems have surfaced on the online combat game War Thunder. This incident is part of a recurring pattern where sensitive military information appears on platforms like War Thunder and Discord. The Eurofighter Typhoon, known for its advanced capabilities and high cost, has been the subject of multiple leaks.

War Thunder, developed by Gaijin Entertainment in 2012, is popular among aviation enthusiasts for its realistic depiction of military aircraft. However, debates over aircraft performance often lead to the sharing of classified information. In August 2023, a user leaked a flight manual containing detailed data about the Eurofighter's systems to advocate for its inclusion in the game. "This is a 730-page manual for the DA7 that contains EVERYTHING on all the systems, weaponry, flight data, etc. I hope this data will help the devs to add this magnificent jet faster and make it as accurate as possible! Can’t wait to fly it in the game," stated the user.

Another leak involved technical documentation on the supercruise capability of Italy's Eurofighter variant. A forum moderator confirmed with Italian authorities that these documents were illegally available: "We have directly confirmed with the Italian MOD these are available illegally"...."You cannot use these documents for reporting and you cannot post them."

The UK Defence Journal reported that discussions about the Typhoon's CAPTOR radar led to another instance of restricted material being posted online. "While the material was swiftly removed and the user suspended, this latest incident has reignited concerns about repeated sharing of sensitive information on the platform," noted UK Defence Journal.

The CAPTOR radar is central to these debates due to its advanced features like multimode fire control and improved tracking performance. Leonardo, a major contractor for Eurofighter, describes it as having "a full suite of Air-to-Air and Air-to-Surface modes."

Leaks are not limited to Eurofighters; other aircraft such as F-16s and helicopters like AH-64 Apaches have also had sensitive details shared online. These incidents raise questions about whether leaked information compromises military systems or if users are unaware they possess classified material.

Despite War Thunder's accuracy in simulating military vehicles—touted by some soldiers during COVID restrictions—the game's reliance on open-source data can frustrate players familiar with classified specs. Professor Justin Bronks from Rusi suggests that much of modern jets' lethality lies in their classified technology rather than publicly known specifications.
