British Airways has announced significant changes to its loyalty program, marking the end of the British Airways Executive Club after 43 years. From April 1, 2025, the program will be rebranded as The British Airways Club, introducing new methods for earning Tier Points.

The revamped system will base member benefits on traveler spending rather than distance traveled. Members will earn one Tier Point for every £1 spent on flights and ancillary services like seat selection and excess baggage. The airline is also recalculating Tier thresholds to align with this new model.

Additional ways to earn Tier Points include contributions to Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), which can yield up to 1,000 points annually. Moreover, British Airways Holidays will offer unlimited Tier Points based on package prices, potentially accelerating members' progress toward elite status.

Chief Commercial Officer Colm Lacy emphasized that these changes are a response to customer feedback and aim to better reward loyalty while adapting to evolving travel needs. "I particularly wanted to highlight better rewarding our customers who book through British Airways Holidays," he stated.

To further entice travelers, British Airways is offering bonus Tier Points for bookings made before February 14, 2025, applicable for travel starting April 1. These bonuses vary by cabin class.

Later in 2025, The British Airways Club plans additional options for earning Tier Points through credit card spending and new milestone benefits between tiers. The program remains free to join and continues using Avios as its currency.
