American Express has made changes to its Centurion Lounge at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, closing the Equinox Body Lab and introducing a new coffee bar named Blue Roast by American Express. This change was confirmed by a company spokesperson over the holidays.

The lounge, which debuted in 2020, originally included the wellness-focused Equinox Body Lab. However, it appears that Amex's partnership with Equinox may have ended or not met expectations. The new coffee bar is expected to be popular among travelers as all drinks will be complimentary.

This JFK location is now the second Centurion Lounge to feature a dedicated coffee bar, following its introduction in Seattle's recently renovated lounge. The menu includes various espresso beverages, cold brew coffees, seasonal specialty drinks, smoothies, and healthy options like avocado toast and chia pudding.

No other amenities in the Centurion Lounge are being altered with this update. However, last year Amex closed all of its spas to provide more seating for travelers. The decision reflects a focus on maximizing space for high-demand amenities such as coffee bars and seating areas.

Spas and fitness rooms require significant resources and do not accommodate most guests effectively due to space constraints within busy lounges that often have waitlists.

The JFK lounge was initially Amex's flagship location before Atlanta took over that title. It spans two levels with features including a hidden speakeasy-style bar and two buffets. The lounge offers expansive views through floor-to-ceiling windows, providing travelers with a break from the airport's bustling environment.
