The Pilatus PC-12, a single-engine turboprop aircraft, has been in production since 1991 by Swiss manufacturer Pilatus Aircraft. Known for its versatility, the aircraft serves various roles including commuter airline service, fractional ownership, general aviation, and business jet operations. It is also employed in medevac cases, search and rescue missions, cargo transport, and by government agencies such as police and armed forces.

The PC-12's top cruise speed reaches 285 knots (528 kilometers per hour or 328 miles per hour). Initially flown on May 31, 1991, the aircraft's production faced delays due to modifications needed to meet performance standards. Certification was granted by the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation in March 1994 followed by the US Federal Aviation Administration.

Over time, improvements were made to increase maximum take-off weight and engine power while updating avionics. New propellers and noise reduction features were added alongside interior enhancements that improved range and speed.

In 2006, the Pilatus PC-12NG (Next Generation) was announced with deliveries beginning in 2008. This version featured a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-67P engine allowing better climb performance and a maximum cruise speed of 280 knots. The avionics were upgraded to the Honeywell Primus Apex suite.

The Pilatus PC-12M variant includes an enhanced electrical generation system for roles such as air ambulance services or aerial photography. Meanwhile, the Pilatus PC-12NGX introduced in October 2019 incorporates advanced features like full authority digital engine control (FADEC), autothrottle capabilities, and low-speed propeller mode reducing cabin noise.

"The PC-12 will do it all and do it well," stated Flying Magazine in 2017.

Operating costs for flying a Pilatus PC-12 vary based on annual flight hours. For instance, flying 200 hours per year incurs costs around $377,923 while doubling those hours increases expenses to approximately $580,232 annually.
