Emirates has launched its Airbus A350 into commercial service, beginning flights between Dubai and Edinburgh. The aircraft replaces the Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 777-200LR previously used on this route. The A350 will operate daily.

The inaugural flight occurred on January 3, departing slightly late at 15:26 local time but arriving nearly on schedule at 19:18 in Edinburgh. Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, commented on the significance of this event: "This marks a pivotal moment in Emirates' journey as we introduce the A350 into service. Our first Airbus A350 making its maiden journey to Edinburgh also underscores the strategic importance of the UK within our global network."

Business class passengers enjoyed a menu inspired by Scottish cuisine, featuring dishes like broccoli and Lanark Blue cheese soup and seared Angus beef fillet from Aberdeen. Economy class offerings included potato champ salad with Scottish smoked salmon.

Kate Sherry, Chief Commercial Officer at Edinburgh Airport, expressed enthusiasm for welcoming the new aircraft: "Starting the new year with a brand-new aircraft is exactly the way we want to bring in 2025 at Edinburgh Airport."

Emirates has ordered 65 Airbus A350s, with deliveries expected through early 2028. The airline plans to deploy these aircraft across various destinations, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bologna, Colombo, Lyon, and Muscat.

"The A350’s introduction will enable Emirates to expand into new destinations globally," according to previous statements from Emirates. Notably absent from the A350 is a first-class section; instead, it offers three classes accommodating a total of 312 passengers.
