With passenger numbers expected to rise in 2025, the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is taking steps to address potential bottlenecks in airport security screening by hiring more security officers. The TSA has announced a local hiring event for security officer roles at Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport (CHO) and Richmond International Airport (RIC). The event will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, from 09:00 to 15:00 in Richmond.

The positions available include both full- and part-time roles, providing interested individuals with an opportunity to learn about working as a TSA officer. Attendees will have the chance to expedite the hiring process by receiving guidance on applications and participating in proctored tests and interviews if eligible.

The starting hourly salary for TSA officers at Richmond International is $22.40, potentially reaching $64,000 annually after two years. At Charlottesville-Albemarle, the starting rate is $20.63 per hour, with potential earnings of $60,000 per year after two years.
