Delta Air Lines is set to increase its flights between Atlanta and Edinburgh, Scotland, to ten times weekly starting June 7, 2025. The airline plans to add three new weekly direct services to its existing daily route, maintaining this schedule until September 6, after which it will revert to a daily frequency.

"Edinburgh, Scotland, is not a new city for Delta Air Lines," the airline noted in its announcement. The expansion is part of Delta's broader strategy to enhance its international route network and strengthen its position in the transatlantic market. Delta will utilize Boeing 767 aircraft for these flights, which have a capacity of 216 seats.

The current daily service DL34 departs Atlanta at 23:05 local time and arrives in Edinburgh at around 12:05 the next day. An additional thrice-weekly service, DL254, will depart Atlanta at 19:05 and arrive in Edinburgh at 08:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. For return trips to the United States, DL35 operates daily from Edinburgh at 09:00 local time arriving in Atlanta at 13:00 local time. Meanwhile, DL253 runs on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

This increased frequency will result in a total of 40 flights between Atlanta and Edinburgh in June 2025 with a seating capacity of 8,640 seats. In July 2025, there will be an increase to 45 flights providing up to 9,720 seats. Although August sees one less scheduled service compared to July with a total of nine fewer seats available (9,504), September will maintain one daily flight offering a total of 33 frequencies equating to approximately seven thousand one hundred twenty-eight available seats.

Delta’s history with the Atlanta-Edinburgh route dates back before it was resumed on May 26th last year following discontinuation since around two thousand seven—highlighting both significant interest from travelers towards Scotland as well strong ties within their network operations via Georgia-based hub facilities where over seventy-five percent air traffic belongs under company purview according Department Transportation statistics published recently.
