Emirates has launched its first Airbus A350 into commercial service, marking a significant milestone for the airline. The aircraft made its debut on the Dubai–Edinburgh route, featuring advanced cabin design and enhanced passenger comfort. This is the first of 65 A350s that Emirates plans to integrate into its fleet in the coming years.

Passengers on this inaugural flight received a commemorative certificate. Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, commented on the importance of this launch: “This is a defining moment for Emirates as we welcome the Airbus A350 into our operations. Choosing Edinburgh for its maiden flight underscores the UK’s strategic role within our network."

Kate Sherry, Chief Commercial Officer (Aero) at Edinburgh Airport, also celebrated the occasion: “Welcoming a brand-new aircraft like the A350 to Edinburgh Airport is the perfect way to begin 2025."

The new Airbus A350 features several upgrades aimed at improving passenger experience. These include redesigned Economy Class cabins, upgraded Business Class and Premium Economy cabins, ultra-responsive touchscreens with superior image quality, wider aisles, extra-high ceilings in all cabins, and fast Wi-Fi connectivity.

The aircraft is noted for being one of the most fuel-efficient widebody planes and offers a quiet twin-aisle cabin. It has been configured with 312 seats across three classes: Business Class with 32 lie-flat seats, Premium Economy with 21 seats, and Economy Class with 259 seats.

In addition to Edinburgh, Emirates plans to deploy the A350 to eight more destinations in the near future. These destinations include Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kuwait City, Bahrain's capital Manama (not Colombo), Lyon in France (not Muscat), and Bologna in Italy.

Emirates has increased its focus on Scotland following resumption of services to Edinburgh in November 2024. Currently operating 14 weekly flights to Scotland including an A380 service to Glasgow; these flights offer Scottish travelers connections to over 140 global destinations.

Flight EK23 departs from Dubai at 14:50 arriving in Edinburgh by evening while return flight EK24 leaves Edinburgh later that night reaching Dubai early next morning.
