As the new year unfolds, many travelers find their elite status levels reset to zero, prompting a renewed effort to maintain or elevate their standing. Some frequent flyers at The Points Guy (TPG) have chosen not to pursue upper-tier elite status anymore, while others remain committed to retaining their top-tier positions.

For those continuing the quest for elite status, there are encouraging developments. Rollover credits, miles, and free nights from credit cards associated with programs like World of Hyatt are already being posted. Various loyalty programs have introduced new perks and choices in benefits.

Delta Air Lines has shifted its focus to Medallion Qualification Dollars as the primary metric for elite status, moving away from Medallion Qualification Miles. Delta SkyMiles members can expect new choices in addition to existing options such as upgrade certificates and bonus SkyMiles. According to Delta, starting February 1, 2025, "enjoy a more seamless experience by selecting your Choice Benefits through the Fly Delta app."

World of Hyatt members have seen qualifying nights credited to their accounts. Those holding the World of Hyatt Credit Card receive five nights annually towards status and can earn additional nights through spending on the card. New features include expanded choices at different stages of one's elite journey, with rewards beginning at 20 qualifying nights or 35,000 base points earned within a calendar year.

Marriott Bonvoy enthusiasts have noticed elite night credits added to their accounts thanks to Marriott credit cards that provide automatic credits each year. A combination of personal and business cards can yield up to 40 elite nights annually.

Hilton Honors members are also seeing status notifications and rollover nights reflected in their accounts. Top-tier Diamond status is achievable simply by holding the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card.

These changes offer opportunities for travelers committed to maintaining or achieving higher tiers in their respective loyalty programs throughout 2025.
