Delta Air Lines is preparing for potential disruptions at Atlanta and other Southeastern stations due to an incoming winter storm. Starting Friday, January 10, customers may encounter a mix of rain, sleet, and snow affecting operations across Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The airline's meteorology team expects wintry conditions throughout the day on January 10 with possible flurries continuing into January 11.

"The safety of Delta customers and employees is our primary focus as we manage any possible disruptions to our operation," stated Delta.

To accommodate passengers affected by the weather conditions, Delta has issued travel waivers for certain cities in the Southeast. This allows those with existing bookings more flexibility to change or cancel flights ahead of the storm. If flights are canceled or delays cause missed connections, Delta will attempt to rebook travelers on the next available itinerary.

Delta advises its customers to closely monitor their flight status via delta.com or the Fly Delta app. The Operations and Customer Center (OCC) aims to provide as much advance notice as possible regarding flight changes. Updates can also be sent directly to mobile devices or email accounts.

For significant delays or cancellations, customers have options available through the Fly Delta app or My Trips on delta.com. Passengers on U.S. domestic flights experiencing delays of three hours or more can receive full refunds if they choose not to fly. Similarly, international travelers facing six-hour delays have refund eligibility under these circumstances.

In cases where a flight is canceled and rebooking is declined by the customer, Delta will process a full refund automatically after a 24-hour waiting period. Customers who are not automatically rebooked should contact Delta at airports or via Reservations by phone or through the Fly Delta app's Message Us feature to explore alternative flights.

Additional details are accessible on delta.com for those seeking further information about this advisory and other recent weather-related updates.
