Bank of America is offering a new promotion for its Alaska Airlines Visa Business card. The offer includes 70,000 bonus miles and Alaska's Famous Companion Fare from $122, which consists of a $99 fare plus taxes and fees starting at $23. To qualify, applicants must spend $4,000 or more within the first 90 days after opening the account.

A similar offer is available for the personal Alaska Airlines Visa Signature credit card. This also provides 70,000 bonus miles and the companion fare after spending $3,000 or more in the first 90 days.

According to THE POINTS GUY's December 2024 valuations, Alaska miles are valued at 1.45 cents each, making this bonus worth approximately $1,015. Additional value can be obtained by redeeming these miles on partner airlines like Cathay Pacific for flights that include a free stopover in Hong Kong.

The merger between Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines has been approved, expanding earning and redemption opportunities when flying to Hawaii and beyond.

However, there has been a devaluation of the Mileage Plan program without prior notice, potentially affecting the value derived from these miles.

The Alaska Airlines Business card carries an annual fee of $95 ($70 for the company and $25 for the first card), with an additional $25 fee per extra card. Cardholders earn three miles per dollar on eligible Alaska purchases, two miles per dollar on gas and other select categories, and one mile per dollar elsewhere. A relationship bonus offers an additional 10% bonus miles on all purchases for those with eligible Bank of America small-business accounts.

Card benefits include no foreign transaction fees and non-expiring miles on active accounts. Cardholders receive perks such as a free checked bag for themselves and up to six companions on Alaska flights when using the card to pay for tickets. They also enjoy discounts on lounge memberships and priority boarding.

An additional companion certificate is available after spending $6,000 within the anniversary year. This allows a friend or family member to join on a round-trip flight operated by Alaska in economy class.

Alaska Airlines is part of the Oneworld alliance, allowing access to booking awards with alliance partners as well as non-alliance partners without blackout dates when using miles or companion fares.

This business card does not affect Chase's 5/24 status, making it an attractive option without impacting long-term credit strategies.
