Delta Air Lines has announced a new partnership with Uber, allowing its SkyMiles members to earn miles on eligible Uber rides and Uber Eats deliveries. This collaboration was revealed during a keynote event at the Las Vegas Sphere and is set to begin later this year.

In contrast, Delta will be ending its current arrangement with Lyft, which means customers will no longer earn SkyMiles through Lyft rides after April 7. A Delta spokesperson expressed appreciation for the previous partnership with Lyft, acknowledging the benefits it provided to loyal customers.

The new Uber partnership focuses on airport transportation, where 15% of all Uber bookings either start or end. SkyMiles members can expect to earn 1 mile per dollar spent on UberX rides to and from airports, 2 miles per dollar on premium services like Uber Black, and 3 miles per dollar on Uber Reserve rides. Eligible Uber Eats deliveries also qualify for mileage earning.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi joined Delta CEO Ed Bastian at the announcement in Las Vegas. Khosrowshahi stated that "we're also evolving our airport experience by providing easy, step-by-step instructions right in the Uber app" to enhance pickup and drop-off experiences at Delta hubs.

As more details are anticipated this spring, customers can join a waitlist on Uber's website to prepare for linking their accounts. The partnership aligns with Delta's ties to American Express, which offers cardmembers various travel-related benefits.
