Passengers seeking a domestic Caribbean getaway have a new option with Spirit Airlines resuming flights from Boston Logan International Airport to San Juan, Puerto Rico. This daily service runs between February 12 and March 18 using an Airbus A321neo.
A nonstop flight from San Antonio to San Juan will operate three to four times a week this spring without direct competition. San Antonio's Air Service Administrator Jacob Tyler remarked on the excitement surrounding this route: “The ties between our region and Puerto Rico have grown substantially in recent years."
In addition, Spirit has added flights from San Antonio to Miami International Airport during spring break. These services are scheduled for four times weekly between March 5 and March 17.
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport will see daily services to Charlotte starting March 6 through March 21. New links include Pensacola with four weekly flights and Tampa with a daily service, both running from March 5 to March 18.
Further expansions include new connections from Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Nashville this spring. Additionally, Nashville International Airport welcomes new services including flights to Fort Myers/Southwest Florida International Airport and Pensacola.
Spirit Airlines is also enhancing its offerings for Mardi Gras at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport with additional flights planned between New Orleans and cities like Indianapolis, Columbus, and Memphis.
Several other routes are set for resumption in March including Atlanta-Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Myrtle Beach will reconnect with Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Bradley International Airport in Connecticut. Louisville's link to Tampa returns as well.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport resumes services to Los Angeles and Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua, Nicaragua.
A spokesperson for Spirit Airlines confirmed that several city pairs would see added flights this year including Chicago-Pensacola, Cleveland-Orlando, Dallas/Fort Worth-Charlotte among others.
