In 2024, ten airline routes worldwide averaged over 100 daily flights. Seven of these were located in greater Asia, with one in Australia and two in South America. Notably, none of the busiest routes were found in North America, Europe, or Africa. All the busiest routes were domestic flights.

According to data from OAG, August 2nd was the busiest day for air travel in 2024, with a seat capacity of 19,278,320. This surpassed the previous year's peak by nearly 700,000 seats and was 18% higher than the annual average. Conversely, Thanksgiving Day recorded the lowest number of scheduled seats at 14,871,278.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport remained the world's busiest airport. The United States also continued to have the largest airlines globally when measured by fleet size.

The fifth-busiest route globally was from Fukuoka to Haneda Airport in Japan. "There were 112 daily flights FUK-HND," as stated for this route. Scheduled flights for January 2025 totaled 1,767 with approximately half a million seats available.

In Vietnam, "there were 114 daily flights HAN-SGN" between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City making it the fourth-busiest route. For January 2025 alone, there are plans for about 1,803 flights on this route.

Saudi Arabia's Jeddah to Riyadh route ranked third with "117 daily flights JED-RUH." Saudia Airlines operates extensively on this path along with low-cost carriers Flynas and flyadeal.

Australia’s Melbourne to Sydney connection held second place with "138 daily flights MEL-SYD." Qantas and its subsidiary Jetstar dominate this busy corridor along with Virgin Australia.

The top spot went to South Korea’s Jeju to Seoul route which had "199 daily flights CJU-GMP," making it not only the busiest leisure flight but also overall by aircraft numbers worldwide for January 2025 at over three thousand planned journeys.
