Choice Privileges has rolled out significant changes to its award booking system, effective from early 2025. These updates include a 50-week booking window, the option to redeem points for premium room types, and the reintroduction of RewardSaver rates.

The company had previously announced these changes in October 2024 and began implementing them at select properties before the end of that year. On Thursday evening, Choice communicated with its members via email under the subject "Discover the New Benefits of Your Reward Nights," detailing these program updates.

One major change is extending the booking window from 100 days to 50 weeks. This adjustment allows members more flexibility in planning their stays at Choice Privileges properties well in advance. According to Choice Hotels, most award night bookings remain cancellable until shortly before the stay.

In terms of pricing visibility, Choice Privileges no longer publishes redemption rates on each property's homepage. Instead, members can view points costs by selecting "Reward Points" as the rate when checking individual property pages. The email sent by Choice highlighted that "Choice may change reward levels at any time without notice; redemption levels typically vary per location and time of year."

A notable feature is that all Choice Privileges properties in Tokyo are currently available for 8,000 points per night. This rate contrasts with previous costs ranging from 16,000 to 20,000 points per night for several Tokyo locations.

Members can also redeem points for premium room types at some properties without additional cost compared to standard rooms. For instance, Bluegreen Vacations Fountains offers various room types for 20,000 points per night.

Lastly, RewardSaver rates have been reintroduced and offer discounts on award pricing. Some nights are bookable for as low as 6,000 points in places like Tulsa, Oklahoma.

While these changes provide new opportunities for value through point redemptions and advanced bookings up to nearly a year ahead, it remains crucial for members to compare cash rates with point redemptions to maximize their benefits effectively.
