Frontier Airlines has expanded its codeshare partnership with Mexican low-cost carrier Volaris to include four new routes between the United States and Mexico. The expansion comes nearly a year after the two airlines resumed their partnership to improve connectivity in the US-Mexico market.

The new codeshare routes will connect Los Cabos Airport (SJD) with Oakland (OAK), California, and Monterrey International Airport (MTY) with Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Texas, Houston (IAH), Texas, and Miami International Airport (MIA), Florida. These flights are set to operate throughout the summer of 2025, starting gradually from March 20. All flights on these routes will be operated by Volaris, but bookings can be made through Frontier Airlines' website.

Notably, Volaris will be the only airline offering direct services on the Los Cabos to Oakland route beginning March 20, 2025. The flights will use Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Volaris is an ultra-low-cost Mexican airline operating in Mexico, the United States, and Central and South America. It serves destinations such as Mexico City, Cancún, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Huatulco, Acapulco, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Tijuana.

Both Frontier and Volaris operate all-Airbus fleets. Volaris' fleet includes 139 aircraft with an average age of 8.3 years.

In 2023, Volaris and Frontier resumed their codeshare partnership allowing passengers access to more than 30 new destinations in the United States at lower prices. Enrique Beltranena, President and CEO of Volaris said: "We are very excited with Frontier Airlines' reignition of our codeshare partnership. This collaboration... not only expands the travel options for Frontier customers but also reinforces Volaris' commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and offering an extensive range of destinations between our two nations."

The US-Mexico air travel market is among the busiest international routes due to tourism, business travel, and familial connections. Following a downturn during COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, it has shown strong recovery in both leisure and business travel segments.
