Cathay Pacific has experienced a significant increase in passenger numbers, carrying over 100,000 passengers on eight separate days during the holiday season. These busy days occurred between December 15 and December 31, providing a boost for the airline as it continues to recover from challenges faced in recent years.

Entering 2025, Cathay Pacific is on track to return to pre-pandemic capacity levels. The airline plans to serve more than 100 destinations from its hub at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) this year. According to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, Cathay Pacific has scheduled 9,692 flights for January 2025, offering over 2.9 million seats and approximately 7 billion available seat miles.

Compared to January 2024, this represents a 27.1% increase in flights. The number of scheduled flights also surpasses figures from January of both 2019 and 2020 by more than a thousand each year.

In Asia, which accounts for the majority of Cathay Pacific's operations due to its geographical location, the airline has scheduled over 7,300 intra-Asia flights for January. The most frequent route is between Hong Kong International Airport and Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in Taipei with about twelve or thirteen daily flights each way.

In North America, Cathay Pacific has scheduled fewer flights compared to Asia but still maintains significant operations with key routes such as thrice-daily flights between Hong Kong and John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City.

The airline's European presence includes regular services between Hong Kong and London Heathrow (LHR), with up to five daily round trips planned for January.

Cathay Pacific also operates multiple routes connecting Hong Kong with destinations in Oceania like Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) and Melbourne Airport (MEL). In Africa, the sole route served connects Hong Kong with OR Tambo International (JNB) in Johannesburg.

Overall, Cathay Pacific continues its recovery efforts by increasing flight frequencies across various continents while maintaining competitive service offerings against other carriers.
