Southwest Airlines has established a strong presence at Boston Logan Airport, offering flights to six domestic destinations in January 2025. According to data from Cirium, the airline will operate 848 flights this month, providing 138,960 seats for travelers.

The airline's history in Boston dates back to August 16th, 2009, when it began with ten daily nonstop departures to Chicago (MDW) and Baltimore/Washington (BWI). Southwest now offers up to 24 daily departures to eight cities. A spokesperson for the airline emphasized Southwest's commitment: "We’ve proudly served Boston for nearly 16 years and offer up to 24 departures a day to eight cities."

In addition to its operations at Logan Airport, Southwest also serves Manchester-Boston Regional Airport with routes to Orlando, Baltimore/Washington, Chicago, and Tampa.

The Austin route is the least busy this month with only one flight each way on January 4th. The final direct flight was conducted by Boeing 737-800 aircraft registered as N8787K.

Southwest's St. Louis route sees a total of 16,414 seats available through January with twice-daily service on weekends. Nashville is another significant destination with a double daily service providing a total of 20,898 seats this month.

Denver International Airport ranks third in terms of frequency with Southwest operating two flights most days for a total of 23,064 seats between the two cities in January.

Chicago Midway sees at least two daily flights from Boston resulting in 23,410 available seats this month. Most days see either two or four flights in each direction.

Baltimore/Washington remains Southwest’s busiest route from Boston with an impressive count of 172 flights both ways throughout January equating to over five flights daily on average.

Future expansions include new routes starting later this year including Orlando in March and Dallas Love Field beginning in April. These additions are part of Southwest's strategy which includes selling and leasing back aircrafts for financial flexibility.
