Air New Zealand has concluded another significant year, according to Chief Executive Officer Greg Foran. Reflecting on 2024, Foran expressed gratitude towards travelers and the airline's staff for their commitment and perseverance amid challenges like engine availability issues.

Foran highlighted a major milestone with the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner sent to Singapore for an interior retrofit, expected to be ready in 2025. "We can't wait to welcome our customers into these new cabins in 2025," he stated.

The airline's safety video, "Every Point Counts," featuring Kiwi basketball star Steven Adams, gained popularity with over 30 million views globally. Airpoints membership saw a substantial increase with 414,000 new members joining in 2024, bringing the total to 4.8 million.

Auckland-Sydney emerged as the most popular short-haul route while Auckland-Singapore led long-haul travel. Bali maintained its status as a favored holiday destination with expanded year-round service from Air New Zealand.

The introduction of Live Chat resulted in over 265,000 customer engagements. The Mangōpare Air New Zealand Pilot Cadetship attracted more than 2000 applications for its inaugural intake, selecting 30 cadets for training.

Behind the scenes, the engineering team logged significant hours maintaining aircraft and completed numerous engine changes. Cargo operations included transporting large quantities of fresh produce and seafood.

Animal transport included various species such as dogs, cats, kiwi birds, penguins, and Tasmanian devils. Onboard services saw millions of meals served along with cookies and candy canes introduced during the holiday season.

Window seats remained popular among passengers across all aircraft types. Lounge visitors spent considerable time relaxing before international flights with mango chili margaritas being a top cocktail choice.

As Air New Zealand approaches its 85th anniversary in April, Foran reaffirmed the airline's dedication to connecting people within New Zealand and internationally: "Here's to building on this legacy and achieving many more milestones in the years ahead."
