In the past week, several airlines have launched or resumed routes to various destinations. Among them, Air Serbia has initiated a twice-weekly service from Belgrade to Shanghai using its A330-200 aircraft. The inaugural flight took place on January 11. "For connectivity reasons, Air Serbia's Shanghai schedule is very similar to that of its other Chinese route, Guangzhou," the airline stated. This new route comes after Air Serbia ended flights to Tianjin in November 2024.

Alaska Airlines also commenced operations on ten new routes this month, including Boise to Orlando, which started on January 8. This marks the first time the two cities have been connected with non-stop service. Flights operate thrice weekly using a Boeing 737-900ER.

ITA Airways has become the first EU flag carrier since Libya's civil war to launch flights between Rome Fiumicino and Tripoli’s Migita airport as of January 12. The twice-weekly service aims to cater primarily to local traffic and passengers connecting across Europe.

Ryanair began flying to Western Sahara for the first time with services from Madrid and Lanzarote starting on January 8 and January 11 respectively. Both routes are operated twice weekly.

Flynas has introduced Jeddah-Djibouti flights on January 8, marking the first time this city pair has been served since Daallo Airlines ceased operations in 2023. Flynas operates three weekly flights using an A320neo aircraft.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) resumed flights between Islamabad and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on January 10 after meeting EU safety requirements following a ban in June 2020 by EASA. Reports indicate strong passenger demand with over 300 passengers on board during its initial flight.

Breeze Airways launched a new route from Tampa to Erie on January 8, expanding its network out of Tampa to include Erie as its latest destination.

These developments highlight continued expansion efforts by airlines into diverse markets across different regions globally.
