The latest rankings for the world's busiest airports in 2024 have been announced, with Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport maintaining its position at the top. This marks the second consecutive year that Atlanta has held this title, having previously achieved it in 2019 and 2023. The airport serves as a hub for SkyTeam Alliance airlines, including Delta Air Lines, and experienced a moderate growth of 2% to reach 62.7 million seats.

John Grant, OAG’s Chief Analyst, commented on the new additions to the list: "With growth across all regions of the world, the ten busiest airports once again reflect the strong recovery in the aviation sector in the last two years."

Dubai International Airport ranks second globally and leads in international capacity with a 7% increase year-on-year. Tokyo Haneda Airport is third with a rise of 5% from 2023. London Heathrow holds fourth place as Europe's busiest airport.

In North America, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is fifth with an increase of 18% over pre-pandemic levels. Denver International Airport follows closely at sixth place.

China's Guangzhou Baiyun and Shanghai Pudong airports are seventh and ninth respectively, showing significant recovery post-pandemic. Istanbul Airport has also increased its global significance by moving up eight places since 2019.

Chicago O'Hare rounds out the top ten list with just under 47 million available seats last year.
