Federal Express Corporation has introduced its first electric vehicles in Korea, marking a significant step towards reducing its carbon footprint in the region. The initiative aligns with FedEx's goal of achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2040.
The company has deployed six Hyundai ST1 Electric Cargo Vans for parcel pickup and delivery operations in Seoul and Busan. These vehicles have a load capacity of 1 ton and can travel up to 317 kilometers on a full charge. Each vehicle is expected to prevent approximately 7 metric tons of tailpipe emissions annually compared to diesel-powered vans.
This move supports Korea's objective of cutting emissions by 40% by 2030 relative to 2018 levels and reaching carbon neutrality by 2050. FedEx is also investing in aircraft modernization, sustainable fuels, efficient facilities, and supporting carbon sequestration research.
