A spokesperson from Flying Blue stated: "Recently, we made a slight adjustment to award mile pricing and corresponding inventory access to address a common concern: finding availability at the lowest award levels." They emphasized that this adjustment aims to make it easier for members to book flights by significantly increasing entry-level award availability by an average of 30%.
In addition to this change in redemption costs, Flying Blue remains a transfer partner with several major points programs such as American Express Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards.
For travelers flying from North America through Amsterdam Airport Schiphol or Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport heading towards Africa or Asia, new saver-level pricing is now applicable: starting at 40,000 miles in economy class up to 115,000 miles in business class.
The spokesperson added: "While we can certainly appreciate that nobody likes price increases...this change ensures better access to rewards for all our members."
