Alaska Airlines is expanding its network with the introduction of three new nonstop routes within Oregon. Starting May 15, 2025, the airline will launch a daily nonstop flight connecting Portland and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. This marks the first time Alaska Airlines will offer this route.

In addition to the Portland-Houston service, Alaska Airlines will resume twice-daily nonstop flights between Portland and Eugene, Oregon. The airline is also set to introduce a new route linking San Diego with Medford, Oregon. These routes are part of a year-round service expansion aimed at enhancing connectivity for travelers.

Kirsten Amrine, Vice President of Network Planning and Revenue Management at Alaska Airlines, stated: “We’re based in Seattle, but Portland is a second home for us where we’ve been the largest carrier for more than 20 years. Our new flights out of Portland, Eugene and Medford show our continued focus on connecting Oregon with the rest of the country.”

Dan Pippenger, Chief Aviation Officer at the Port of Portland, commented on the development: “As passenger traffic at PDX continues to grow, so does the opportunity for airlines. We appreciate the continued partnership with Alaska that gives travelers more options to connect to major markets and more flights within our state.”

The new routes include strategic timing adjustments aimed at maximizing convenience for passengers. The Portland-Eugene service features an early morning departure from Eugene and a late evening return from Portland. Meanwhile, the Medford-San Diego flight offers convenient mid-day departures.

Further expansions within Oregon include increased frequency on existing routes starting May 15. The Portland-Medford route will now operate four times daily instead of once, while Portland-Redmond will be served year-round three times daily.

Alaska Airlines promises an enhanced travel experience with no change fees and generous legroom in First Class and Premium Class seats. Passengers can enjoy free streaming entertainment onboard along with other amenities such as satellite Wi-Fi and power outlets at every seat.

The airline's fleet includes E175 regional aircraft featuring three classes of service without middle seats.
