JetBlue Airways has announced a significant expansion of its network, introducing 16 new routes and adding five new cities to its route map. The New York-based airline revealed these plans on Wednesday as part of a strategic move to enhance its market presence for the upcoming season.

The expansion includes 11 new routes from the New York area, with John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) featuring seven additional routes. These will connect JFK with destinations ranging from Hartford and Washington, D.C., to San Pedro Sula in Honduras. The latter marks JetBlue's inaugural service to Honduras.

From Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), JetBlue will relaunch flights to Los Angeles and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. The Los Angeles route will be served by Mint-equipped Airbus A321 aircraft, providing business-class amenities.

Additionally, Islip's Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) will offer daily summer-seasonal flights to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), benefiting travelers on Long Island seeking connections via Boston.

Boston Logan International Airport will see five new routes this summer, including four all-new destinations for JetBlue: Halifax, Norfolk, Traverse City, and Wilmington. These seasonal services aim to boost connectivity from Boston to other JetBlue cities and its transatlantic routes.

Moreover, JetBlue will commence a daily flight from Guatemala City to Fort Lauderdale starting April 30. Seasonal services from Providence to Tampa and Hartford to Fort Myers will transition into year-round operations.

These developments are part of JetBlue's "JetForward" strategy under CEO Joanna Geraghty’s leadership, focusing on redeploying resources for profitability. This follows previous network adjustments initiated by former CEO Robin Hayes.

Whether these expansions will yield the desired financial outcomes remains uncertain; however, they represent JetBlue's efforts towards recovery and growth.
