Cathay Pacific has announced the expansion of its global network with the introduction of direct flights between Hong Kong and Rome starting June 5, 2025. This new route will operate three times a week as a summer seasonal service, marking Cathay Pacific's second direct connection between Hong Kong and Italy. Currently, the airline runs five return flights per week to Milan, which will increase to daily during the summer.

Rome offers visitors an opportunity to explore its rich historical and cultural sites. The timing of Cathay Pacific’s return coincides with the Catholic Church's 2025 Year of Jubilee celebrations in Vatican City and Rome.

Lavinia Lau, Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, commented: “Cathay Pacific’s history in Italy stretches back close to 40 years when we first launched direct flights between Hong Kong and Rome in 1986. We know our customers have been eagerly anticipating the return of this route, and we are delighted to be returning to Italy’s marvellous capital this summer."

Return flights (CX292) will leave Rome at 11:45 local time on the same days.

Cathay Group aims to enhance flight options for customers while reinforcing Hong Kong's position as an international aviation hub. In addition to Rome, new destinations such as Hyderabad in March, Dallas in April, Munich in June, Brussels in August are being added by Cathay Pacific this year. HK Express is also launching flights to Sendai this January.

Travelers from Europe can connect through Hong Kong to numerous Asia-Pacific destinations via Cathay Group’s extensive network.
