Bombardier Aerospace's Challenger 600 series continues to stand out in the world of business jets, offering a variety of models with different features and capabilities. This series, originally designed by Canadair, includes several variants that have been developed over the years.

The original Bombardier Challenger 600 was introduced following its first flight in November 1978. "The aircraft was designed based on the Bill Lear concept," highlighting its early roots in innovative aviation design. It accommodates nine passengers and features a stand-up cabin with two seating sections.

Following this model, the Bombardier Challenger 601 took its maiden flight in April 1982. It offered refined features compared to its predecessor, such as newer engines and winglets. The transition from Lycoming engines to General Electric CF34 turbofans marked an improvement in performance. According to Air Charter Service, "The Challenger 601 replaced the 600 in production to address the previous model’s problems with weight distribution, receiving upgraded engines in the process."

In April 1996, the Challenger 604 variant was launched, boasting higher-thrust engines and structural improvements that allowed for increased takeoff and landing weights. Its capability for long-range missions and adaptations for military use broadened its appeal.

Next came the Challenger 605, which had its first flight in January 2006. This model featured advanced avionics like Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 suite and improved cabin windows for enhanced passenger experience.

The latest addition to this series is the Bombardier Challenger 650, which took flight in May 2015. This model offers significant advancements such as a redesigned cabin interior and enhanced connectivity options. Bombardier Aerospace states that their "best-selling large aircraft platform combines world-class interior design with the ultimate value proposition."

With over a thousand deliveries of these jets, Bombardier's ability to adapt and innovate has ensured that their aircraft remain competitive within the business jet market.
