Andaz Mayakoba, a popular hotel in Mexico's Riviera Maya area, will close for renovations in March and reopen as Alila Mayakoba at the end of the year. This transformation marks the first Alila property in the region, confirmed by Hyatt.

Alila is known for its focus on sustainability, local culture, and experiences. The brand aligns with the Mayakoba resort complex, which features luxury competitors like Rosewood, Fairmont, and Banyan Tree. RLH Properties plans to enhance the 148-acre property using eco-friendly practices. Upgrades will include more rooms and suites with wellness features, new wellness spaces, and spa renovations featuring amenities such as a Mexican steam bath and outdoor hydrotherapy pools.

The Alila Mayakoba will also introduce new dining options: two signature restaurants, an all-day restaurant with an organic garden, a coffee shop, a lobby bar, and a beach club and restaurant.

Pete Sears, Hyatt's group president for the Americas, stated: "The planned transformation of this beloved resort into a magnificent Alila Mayakoba will inspire guests and ignite curiosity... As the first Alila branded hotel in Latin America and the Caribbean, we are proud to soon introduce a new level of luxury."

For those with existing reservations at Andaz Mayakoba from March 2 onward, Hyatt is offering relocation options or cancellation without penalty. Guests can contact Hyatt for assistance.
