Lufthansa, one of Europe's major airlines, is facing delays in aircraft deliveries from Boeing. The airline, which operates through hubs at Frankfurt and Munich airports, has a fleet of 318 aircraft. It is currently awaiting the delivery of Boeing 787 Dreamliners to modernize its operations with more fuel-efficient planes.

The delays are attributed to production issues at Boeing, exacerbated by quality control problems and financial challenges. Lufthansa has not received the expected Dreamliners due to these setbacks. Additionally, the new Allegris seats on these aircraft have yet to be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration, further delaying deliveries.

A Lufthansa spokesperson stated: "We are working with Boeing to check whether we can get at least a few Boeing 787s with some rows of seats blocked into scheduled service by the summer." This plan involves using the Dreamliners on medium-haul routes while blocking uncertified business class seats.

Lufthansa also faces issues with Boeing's 777x program, which has been delayed for several years. This has forced the airline to continue operating older models like the Boeing 747-400s and Airbus A340-600s longer than planned. These older jets require intensive maintenance, leading to grounded aircraft and flight cancellations.

To address these challenges, Lufthansa is moving six Airbus A350s from Munich to Frankfurt. Although these A350s do not feature the new Allegris cabin, this move aims to support Lufthansa's flight schedule during the busy summer season.
