Marriott Bonvoy members may face challenges as the loyalty program has reportedly increased award costs for stays at numerous properties. Without a published award chart, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly when these changes occur. However, online reports and searches suggest that Marriott has significantly raised the number of points required for certain redemptions.
Since the merger of Starwood and Marriott in 2018, award costs have seen several increases. Initially capped at 60,000 points per night, they eventually rose to between 85,000 and 100,000 points per night. In recent years, peak nights and high-end properties saw unofficial caps around 150,000 points. According to View From The Wing, some properties now require between 200,000 and 300,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.
"TPG has contacted Marriott Bonvoy for confirmation," but there was no response at the time of writing.
