Aeromexico is set to expand its presence in the United States with a new route to Philadelphia International Airport, starting in June. This marks the first time the Mexican flag carrier will serve Philadelphia, offering daily flights to Mexico City International Airport. The route aims to cater to business travelers and the significant Mexican community in the region.

Philadelphia International Airport CEO Atif Saeed expressed enthusiasm about the new connection: “This is exciting news for the Philadelphia region and continues to expand our global connectivity. In addition to connecting Philadelphia’s business, family and leisure travelers to the second largest city in the Western Hemisphere, it also unites us with another top destination for culture, history and cuisine."

The service will be operated using Aeromexico's Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which can accommodate 16 passengers in business class and 144 in economy. Flights are scheduled as follows: AM 608 departs Mexico City at 13:35 and arrives in Philadelphia at 20:31; AM 609 departs Philadelphia at 10:02 and arrives in Mexico City at 12:55.

Jose Zapata, Vice President of Sales for Aeromexico, highlighted the strategic importance of this route: “We started this year with very good news, as this new route that will connect Philadelphia with Mexico City will strengthen our position and recent success in the Northeastern US with the addition of Boston, Newark, and Washington D.C in 2024."

The introduction of this nonstop flight comes after a hiatus since American Airlines last operated a similar service from Philadelphia to Mexico City in 2019. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania travelers have multiple options for reaching Cancun through airlines like American Airlines, Spirit Airlines, and Frontier Airlines.

This development aligns with Aeromexico's ongoing partnership with Delta Air Lines under their Joint Cooperation Agreement (JCA), which has seen a significant increase in routes between Mexican and US airports. The JCA is projected to grow by 27% compared to previous years.

In addition to launching flights from San Luis Potosi to Atlanta on June 5th using an Embraer 190 aircraft, Aeromexico plans further expansions within Texas by increasing frequencies on routes from Austin and Dallas/Fort Worth starting June 26th.
