Delta Air Lines emphasizes passenger safety by equipping its aircraft with medical tools and training flight attendants to handle in-flight medical emergencies. Each plane carries two Enhanced Emergency Medical Kits (EEMK) containing life-saving medications, a blood pressure cuff, an oxygen saturation pulse oximeter, a first aid kit, and an automated external defibrillator. The airline also uses MedLink by MedAire, allowing the crew to consult emergency medicine physicians on the ground via high-speed Wi-Fi.

In addition to these resources, Delta encourages passengers who are medical professionals to assist during emergencies. Dr. Enoch Opoku Afriyie, a Ghanaian physician with 11 years of experience and currently studying at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, praised Delta's crew for their professionalism during a cardiac arrest incident on his flight from Accra to JFK in June 2024.

Dr. Afriyie noted the importance of swift response in such situations: “If the crew were not swift enough in their response, the man’s life would have been cut short,” he said. He also appreciated the availability of essential medical tools onboard: “I was thoroughly impressed by the flight crew’s response and cooperation,” Dr. Afriyie added.

Dr. Henry Ting, Senior Vice President and Chief Health & Wellness Officer at Delta, acknowledged Dr. Afriyie's contribution: “It was fortunate to have you on board with us, and we are thankful for the assistance you provided,” said Dr. Ting.
