Three airlines are set to introduce new routes from Memphis International Airport this spring. Spirit Airlines will add two flights to Florida, Delta Air Lines will connect to Austin, and Southwest Airlines will start a route to Nashville.

Southwest Airlines is launching its first intra-Tennessee service on April 8th, 2025. The airline opened a crew base at Nashville Airport last year and is operating its largest schedule from there this spring. The new route offers the only nonstop connection between Memphis and Nashville, operating daily.

Michael Keeney, Chairman of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority Board of Commissioners, stated: “This is a very exciting development for Southwest to connect Memphis to Nashville.” He added that it would provide "a quick and efficient alternative to driving."

Spirit Airlines will begin flights from Memphis to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in time for Mardi Gras. The service runs daily from February 20th to March 9th on an Airbus A320 aircraft. Glen Thomas from Memphis Airport commented on the convenience of the new link: "The drive from Memphis to New Orleans can be a bit slog... During Mardi Gras, it's probably worse."

Additionally, Spirit will offer nonstop service between Memphis and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport starting March 5th, four times weekly. John Kirby of Spirit Airlines noted: “We know Memphis travelers want convenient and affordable flights to popular leisure destinations.”

Delta Air Lines will launch daily nonstop service between Memphis and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport beginning May 7th. This replaces a previous American Airlines service. Michael Keeney expressed appreciation for Delta's expansion: “We appreciate Delta expanding its service here at MEM.”

Memphis International Airport continues redevelopment efforts with improvements planned over the coming years.
