A Learjet 55 medical evacuation aircraft crashed into several buildings in northeast Philadelphia on January 31, 2025. The incident occurred shortly after the plane took off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, heading to Springfield-Branson National Airport. The crash resulted in injuries to people on the ground and ignited fires in homes and vehicles. Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of fatalities.

This tragic event follows a recent midair collision involving a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 and a US Army Sikorsky UH-60L Black Hawk.

The Learjet 55, registered as XA-UCI and operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, was configured as an air ambulance. Video footage shared on social media showed the jet impacting the ground at a steep angle. Flightradar24.com data indicated that the aircraft crashed less than three miles from the runway's end with a high descent rate.

Local media reported that one of the six people onboard was a girl returning to Mexico after receiving medical treatment in the United States. All passengers and crew remain unaccounted for.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker expressed her condolences to those affected by the accident and noted damage to homes and vehicles. Residents are advised to avoid the area and stay indoors if possible.

An update confirmed by The New York Times reported that all six occupants were killed, with additional injuries on the ground.

Jet Rescue Air Ambulance is based in Mexico, specializing in emergency air ambulance services with operations certified in both Mexico and the United States. Their fleet includes various Learjet models capable of international flights.

The investigation into this crash will be led by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), as stated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
