Lufthansa Group airlines have introduced a new service for their passengers. The group, which includes Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings, is now using the Apple AirTag location feature in their baggage tracing processes. This integration allows customers to privately and securely share the location of their AirTag or Find My network accessory through the digital channels of the baggage tracing service. The airlines incorporate this information into their systems to enhance baggage tracking.

Dieter Vranckx, Member of the Executive Board and Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group, stated: “Our digital products team, the ‘Digital Hangar’ with its approximately 1,000 experts, offers our customers new digital services, transparent information and support along the entire journey every month.” He added that using Apple AirTag data is an example of how they are continuously improving customer journeys across all group airlines with innovative digital services.

Oliver Schmitt, Head of the Lufthansa Group Digital Hangar, noted: “Thanks to our app and website, passengers can now find solutions quickly and easily in the event of irregularities.” He highlighted that significant improvements have been made in recent months in baggage tracing and that integrating AirTag data provides additional opportunities for efficient and quick action.
