United Airlines Boeing 787-10 Aircraft | Simple Flying

United Airlines announced plans to resume flights between Newark and Tel Aviv on March 15, potentially becoming the first U.S.-based airline to do so. The decision follows a detailed assessment of operational considerations for the region and collaboration with unions representing flight attendants and pilots.

The flights will be operated using Boeing 787-10 aircraft, similar to when United last served Tel Aviv from March 2024 to August 2024. These were United's only connections to Israel after suspending most services due to conflicts involving Hamas and Hezbollah.

From March 29, United will add another daily flight between Newark and Tel Aviv. The airline stated, “United has a longstanding commitment to serving Tel Aviv, and this return will make United the first U.S. airline to resume service this year.” Additionally, United offers flights via codeshare agreements with Lufthansa Group airlines.

Lufthansa Group resumed flights on February 1 through its network carriers like Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, Lufthansa, SWISS, and Eurowings.

United might surpass Delta Air Lines as the first carrier returning to Israel. Delta plans to restart daily services from New York JFK on April 1. American Airlines has not announced any return plans yet.

United continues evaluating opportunities for additional flights based on demand. Before suspending operations in October 2023 due to conflict between Israel and Hamas, United had scheduled flights from Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).
